Nonprofit Spotlight: Hope Redemption Center

REDEEMING CANS, REDEEMING HOPE. HOPE REDEMPTION CENTER OFFERS A PLACE FOR RECYCLING AND MISSION

Tell me a bit about Hope Redemption Center.

Hope Redemption Center provides hope for all people through meaningful work, unique volunteer opportunities, authentic relationships, and faith-based personal growth so that everyone can fulfill God’s calling in their life.

Hope Redemption Center, an independent 501 c(3), allows you to feel good about recycling your cans, glass, and plastic and not just throwing them away. We redeem approximately 5,000,000 cans per year! Seventy-one percent of redeemable containers are recycled annually in Iowa through redemption centers, keeping all this material out of landfills. Approximately 400,000 cans were donated to Hope Redemption Center, providing financial assistance that allows our mission to go beyond recycling. Proceeds from donated cans have been donated to Sunnybrook Hope Center and local sober living houses to support the under-resourced in Siouxland.

Your commitment to redeeming your cans provides hope to individuals struggling with homelessness and addiction. Hope Redemption Center, a local non-profit, encourages and mentors individuals active in recovery by providing meaningful, faith-based employment opportunities.

We desire to build relationships and see transformation in their lives; meaningful work is just an avenue to begin. We aim to provide a positive, uplifting environment for our staff, volunteers, and guests. We are known for our unshakeable commitment to the dignity of people.

Hope Redemption Center also provides volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups. In 2022, over 2,234 hours were spent volunteering, mentoring, and walking alongside our employees. We welcome volunteers looking for a service project or even completing a community service project. Our commitment is to help our volunteers grow spiritually, build a community, and serve others with the gifts God has given each of us.

How may the community support this endeavor?

There are several ways the community can support Sunnybrook Redemption Center.

  • Donate Cans: Individuals are encouraged to drop off their cans at Hope Redemption Center, located at 2801 Correctionville Road in Sioux City, or one of our trailers located at Sunnybrook Community Church, Whispering Creek Golf Course, and Morningside Lutheran Church.
  • Serve: This ministry is only possible because of the time and talents of volunteers. Our employees serve alongside volunteers who graciously give 230 hours every month. We are always welcoming individuals and groups who may be interested in serving for a few hours.
  • Sponsor a Trailer: If your church or business wants to sponsor or host a can redemption trailer, please contact us on the next steps.
