What challenges have you experienced in Siouxland?

I came from Guatemala City, Guatemala, so it’s been a big challenge for me to adjust to a smaller and colder place. I was looking for a college in both Michigan and Iowa, but due to the population, Sioux City, IA.  I am pursuing my degree in Psychology with a Pre-law track. I’m also a very family-oriented person, so being so far away from all my family and friends has been a little hard for me. Despite these two main challenges, I’ve enjoyed the personal growth I’ve had living on my own in a new city.

How has Siouxland been welcoming?

People here are great! I’ve honestly had a great time in Sioux City. I’ve been able to surround myself with amazing people such as my three roommates and neighbors, their families, and people in the community. They’ve all made me feel really welcome and always up for adventures.

What do you want the people of Siouxland to know?

I’ve been living in Sioux City for six months now, and I love calling it my new home. It’s a nice small city perfect to start off my education and easy to adapt to with friendly people. Everyone is always smiling and making me feel appreciated.

The quote I live by is, “Find one thing to be grateful for every day.”

¿Qué desafíos has experimentado en Siouxland?
