Get Moving and Shaking in Downtown Sioux City

Two-thousand twenty-two brought live music, theater, sports, art, parades, conferences, new businesses, and more into Downtown Sioux City. Our downtown district had more than 200 concerts, 100 performances, and 90 art exhibitions. As we reflect on the fantastic year of events, we’re excited for more opportunities to bring our community together in 2023.

Gallery in the Sky is an art exhibition unlike any other. In March of 2022, hundreds of people gathered in the skywalks above 4th, 5th, Pierce, and Nebraska Street to support local artists and vendors, grab a coffee, see a fresh mural, and listen to live music. We invited artists and vendors of all mediums to take part in this first-time event. Four new murals from downtown art galleries were unveiled to the public–including a 48-foot long ‘Enchanted Forest’ which took many hours, two professional artists, and a number of volunteer groups to complete. We are excited to announce that Gallery in the Sky will be returning in 2023! More details about the event can be found on our social media.

We need help! As the weather warms up, it’s important we keep our community clean. This year, we are continuing the state-wide initiative of picking 23 pieces of litter on the 23rd of every month—23 on 23. Downtown Partners and the City of Sioux City encourage everyone to dedicate a few minutes each month to picking up litter. We can make a big impact in such little time if we work together. Any supplies needed such as garbage bags, zip ties, gloves, and safety vests can be picked up at our office. We appreciate all efforts to keep Downtown Sioux City a beautiful place to be.

Calling all foodies! In April, Restaurant Week: Dining Edition returns! Restaurant Week is the best opportunity to explore new dining establishments and show some love to local favorites. We collaborate with restaurant owners to offer an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert at a discounted rate. Like previous years, we are planning giveaways for those who participate and post about it on social media! A list of participating restaurants can be found on our website, downtownsiouxcity.com. We invite any downtown restaurant owners interested in being involved in the next edition of Restaurant Week to email us at info@downtownsiouxcity.com.

Speaking of specials, Bike to Work Day is coming fast! Anyone who pedals their way to the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce on Friday, May 19, will enjoy a free breakfast, goodies, a chance to win prizes, and buy-one-get-one deals at participating downtown businesses! Register early to ensure you don’t miss out on the BOGO opportunities.
